| Moving to the middle east, the city of Dubai is the most exotic winter vacation destination. Known for its exquisite shopping malls and sand safaris, this place is ideal for couples looking for extravagance. Thailand and India are also some of the great places to visit in winter as the climate is very pleasant in these countries around this time of the year. Kerala and Goa in India are two beach locations which are amongst the best winter vacation destinations in India. Similarly, Phuket in Thailand is a favorite amongst westerners. Bangkok is world famous for its massage parlors and enticing night life. So if you are looking for some wild fun, this could be an appropriate vacation spot for you.

With 2010 coming to an end with very mild temperatures, one must wonder what the remaining winter season will bring. During December the country has seen weather extremes affecting almost all areas. Here in Michigan, we haven't been affected as much as the northwest, the northeast, and even the south. The west coast was plagued by recurring storms bringing heavy snow and rain. Southern California saw extreme periods of rain causing mudslides in areas previously deforested by fire. The Sierra Nevada saw record snow amounts as did other areas of California. The same holds true for New York state and the Eastern Seaboard. Areas of the South experienced a white Christmas, something rarely seen there. Though our present warm spell will soon be history, Michigan can expect waves of above normal temperatures to recur throughout the remaining season. Another warmup is expected toward the end of the January and into early February. Then a period of bitter cold will follow and persist for a few weeks. After that, another warmup with above normal temperatures. This pattern is expected to continue well into March.
