| The Apostle Islands, nestled on Lake Superior in northern Wisconsin, are a rustic camper's dream. Several of the islands hold campsites, but Sand Island is the most tranquil, with nothing but you, an old lighthouse and the stars. The mighty Lake Superior is the perfect setting for the 60 campsites, both wooded and open. If you want warm weather, go in the late summer months, but for true beauty, visit in the fall when the trees are changing colors, and the vibrance of the leaves contrasts beautifully with the pristine lake. If you get restless, you can take day trips to the sea caves around the islands, or go wildlife watching. Just beware, as bears are becoming more common around the islands.

In the sun needles this component was rarely present later in the season, while in the shade needles it was present (although only a small fraction of the total sustained energy dissipation) on most days monitored during winter. The slowly reversible component to sustained energy dissipation was present in both sun and shade needles of all species beginning in November.

What you see here, is a tin can heating up, then dribbling water, then going boom. No big deal. Well imagine that tin can was in the middle of the US. And it was a few million times bigger. And the dribbling water was boiling, flesh burning lava. And the boom had enough power to kill millions in the initial eruption. And it produced an ash cloud that blocked the sun, killed most of the crops in the world, and prevented the sun's heat from reaching the Earth properly causing a new ice age. Humankind barely scraped through the last one.
