| There are lots of ways to drive safely in the winter but the golden rule is to remain patient and don rush. When you rush you end up getting into an accident and it could be very bad if that happens. To avoid getting in accidents make sure you take your time and don drive quickly, even when you on the highway make sure you aren speeding because it very easy to hit a patch of ice and slide out. Often you can even see the ice until you begin sliding on the road so if you in a speeding state then you won be able to control the slide and most likely end up in an accident. You either crash with yourself or with another driver which could become fatal.

The University of Calgary's Outdoor Center offers many winter programs and classes in the Calgary area and the Kananaskis country. You don't have to be a student at the university to participate in these courses. If visiting the Calgary region during your winter vacation, why not learn that winter skill you've always wanted? Choose from winter backpacking skills and safety courses, winter climbing, winter gear repair and tuning courses or a winter sport, such as backcountry skiing or snowboarding, kite skiing or boarding or take your telemark skiing to the next level and become a certified telemark instructor. Take a course on your own, as a family or with friends. There are also youth programs available. Both offer plenty of walls to climb with routes set for all levels from first time climber to those just practicing in between expeditions. Calgary climbing offers courses for adults, youth, birthday programs and drop in climbing too. The Stronghold location (downtown) has 34 ropes and more than 70 routes, including two automatic belay machines, in case you are stopping in without a partner. Downstairs is a workout and stretching room, upstairs is a bouldering area. The other location called Chinook has a huge bouldering cave with hundreds of holds. The climbing area has 45 ropes and a 40 foot lead wall.
