My personal opinion is that the game is fairly unpolished, poorly balanced and there is a massive gulf between the veterans and new players (yes, all games have this but it is extremely apparent in NS2). I bought it on release and was consistently waffle stomped by people that had amazing skills on day 1. The game isn overly complex but it is just really hard to master some of the basic units. and you find yourself wondering why a lone low level alien can cut through 5 marines like butter but you have trouble taking down a lone marine when you play the aliens (or vice versa)
